Shadow Puppetry in the Classroom

Description:

Following a process the Eulenspiegel Puppets have taught in countless classrooms, you will make a shadow puppet of an underwater creature, using poster board, colored acetate, and other readily accessible materials. Monica will show you how to make a simple tabletop shadow stage out of corrugated cardboard. After an impromptu performance, Monica will also offer suggestions for writing and producing shadow plays with a group.

Bio of Workshop Presenter:

Monica Leo, founder and principal puppeteer of Eulenspiegel Puppet Theatre in West Liberty, Iowa, has toured in 25 states and four countries. A graduate of the University of Iowa, Monica studied two years at the State Art Academy in Duesseldorf, Germany. She lives in a log cabin in the woods with her carpenter husband, John.
