Description:

Basic constructions and use of various media for different types of moving mouths and eyes, a fairly realistic mechanical hand, dragon head, plus some more unusual mechanics designed by the artist for special characters with supernatural powers, like faces wearing masks, a face that lights up from within, and more.

Bio of Workshop Presenter:

Ellen Rixford is an internationally known artist whose work is in two museums, and many corporate and individual collections. She works in approximately seven different media and many different styles, depending on the wishes of her clients. Her studio's mechanical puppets and automata have appeared in TV commercials, many industry publications, and have delighted New Yorkers for a dozen years in Fortunoff's holiday windows. Her book, "3 Dimensional Illustration" has been used as a reference work and text for several art schools and many individual artists. For more information, visit her website
