Making and Using Simple Hand Puppets

Description:

Monica will take you through the process of making a traditional hand puppet with a hard head and fabric body. These puppets have round, folk art style heads with charming faces, reminiscent of the popular Czech hand puppets, and mobile, no-sew bodies. Learn how lifelike their movements are, too! This project is adaptable to the classroom or to any other group.

Bio of Workshop Presenter:

Monica Leo, founder and principal puppeteer of Eulenspiegel Puppet Theatre in West Liberty, Iowa, has toured in 25 states and four countries. A graduate of the University of Iowa, Monica studied two years at the State Art Academy in Duesseldorf, Germany. She lives in a log cabin in the woods with her carpenter husband, John.
