Deconstructing Rogue Artists Ensemble's Mr. Punch

Description:

Join members of Rogue Artists Ensemble as they deconstruct their adaptation of Neil Gaiman and Dave McKean's graphic novel, The Comical Tragedy or Tragical Comedy of Mr. Punch which performed in Los Angeles to audience and critical success. Workshop will feature puppets and footage from Mr. Punch and a look at the collaborative nature of the Rogue's projects. Participants will learn how The Rogues develop their projects and will gain knowledge to help in creating their own work. Participants will use the Rogue's approach to create small performances within the workshop setting. Participants are encouraged to bring along performing objects of their own to use with what is created in the workshop together.

Bio of Workshop Presenter:

Director Sean Cawelti graduated from the University of California Irvine, where he received his BA in Drama with honors in Stage Direction. He serves as Artistic Director for Los Angeles based Rogue Artists Ensemble, which creates Hyper-theatrical productions, incorporating puppetry, masked acting, original music and theatrical effects. Sean was fortunate enough to study puppetry at NYU during a summer intensive program and has designed puppets and masks for theatrical projects throughout Southern California.
