Sound Solutions

Workshop Presenter:

Jamie Keithline

Description:

Having trouble with your sound? Do you distort at awkward moments? Does your mic squeal and feed back? Do you just want a little more OOMPH in public? This will be a drop-in clinic on sound reinforcement (PA) systems. We are frequently complimented on the quality of our sound, and we field a lot of questions about what equipment is necessary to get high quality sound. There is no single answer that applies to all situations, but there are general principles which will go a long way towards solving most problems. Bring your equipment (if you can) and questions! Topics included: combining live and recorded voices; microphone techniques; connecting to larger systems in theaters; speaker selection and placement; how loud is loud enough; getting the best bang for your buck. . .

Materials fee: None
Time/Date: Thursday, 8:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.

Max. # Participants: Unlimited

Bio of Workshop Presenter:

Jamie Keithline and Bonny Hall formed the UNI-award-winning Crabgrass Puppet Theatre in 1982. They bought their first sound system, a boombox with a microphone input, that year and have been steadily improving their sound quality ever since. They have incorporated music into their productions from the beginning, and Jamie has been creating multi-track soundtracks for their shows since 1987.
