Stuff I Learned From Bil

Description:

Having been fortunate to have been a member of Bil Baird's performing company, I would like to share some of the experiences and some of what I learned. This will be a lecture/demonstration including video of Baird's work and a look at his design and art work. If time allows, up to 15 participants will have the opportunity to manipulate a Baird marionette and recieve instruction on Baird's unique style of walking a marionette.

Bio of Workshop Presenter:

Steven studied his craft with Master Puppeteer Bil Baird. In 1977 he founded The Puppet Company, which owned and operated a puppet theater from 1988 to 1998, at Union Square in Manhattan. Steven has worked as a puppeteer on the video production Davy Jones' Locker featuring Bil Baird's Marionettes, the movie American Astronaut, TV Funhouse for Comedy Central, The Book of Pooh, and Bear in the Big Blue House. Most recently, he developed puppet characters and coordinated all puppetry for the children's health and exercise TV show Kid Fitness.
