Description:

Designed for puppeteers familiar with the basics of toy theatre, the course will emphasize production and include a short toy theatre performance. With stages, characters and scripts provided by the instructors, participants will then prepare and direct a toy theatre scene complete with lighting and other technical effects. The focus will be on the challenges, rewards and fun inherent in creating and performing theatre in this smaller scale.

Bio of Workshop Presenter:

George and Ann Neff are experienced puppeteers and seasoned educators who have taught puppetry and toy theatre in workshops and college courses. In addition to collecting toy theatre materials, they have mounted several productions and built several different model theaters. In 2006, the Neffs performed at the International Toy Theatre Festival in Harderwijk, The Netherlands.


**The participants in the workshop will be given the parts of one scene to use in the workshop. The full play (Langdale's "Treasure Island") has 35 scenes, in 8 acts. Is it designed so that you can do the whole book, or some portion of it, in one or more performances. Langdale's drawings of the characters, scenes and tricks are wonderful. The full package includes the script, 15 sheets of characters, 30 sheets of scenery with a special front curtain, all on A4 paper. Workshop participants can order the entire packet directly from the Neffs for $40.00 if they order by May 24, 2009
