A Puppet Intervention

SNEAK PREVIEW of this Documentary
Director: Mark Barroso

A Puppet Intervention takes you behind the curtain of one of the most innovative and original theatrical events in North Carolina. From chaos comes art, and from art, a community.

In 1998, artists Donovan Zimmerman and Jan Burger created Paperhand Puppet Intervention to entertain and engage audiences by animating ancient fables and modern allegories with intricate shadow figures, larger than life creatures and everything in between.

Working in an abandoned cotton mill near Chapel Hill, NC and recycling found objects and second hand paint, Paperhand builds props and sculpts masks to promote peaceful co-existence and conscious living with their parades and shows.

And all this to an eclectic soundtrack provided by one of the most original and versatile bands in North Carolina.

This film follows the tumultuous creation of one show, the 2007 production of "A Shoe for Your Foot."
