Panther & Crane
Presented by: IBEX Puppetry
Country of Origin: Orlando, Florida, U.S.

Description:
This is the story of a young crane that flies to Florida with her Mother. Upon arrival to their winter home, her scientist raised Mother tragically collides with the man-made world. The baby crane survives the wilds of the swamp and the storms of human encroachment. Through efforts of her animal friends and her surrogate grandparent scientists she is eventually enticed to find her freedom in the mysteries of migration and the rediscovery of flight.
"Panther & Crane" is an expressionistic journey through Florida's ecosystem. We use dynamic puppets, colored light, projections, and movement to create a world of mythic imagery and dreamlike metaphor. Our subjects are migrating cranes, alligators in the glade, the human pulse and wildly fluctuating weather. The elements dance together and ultimately collide with Florida's accelerating urban sprawl. What role do scientists and construction workers play in this ever changing journey and how will humans ultimately affect the elements and the lives of the panther and crane?
